5 Ways to Age Well

Of course, genes play a big role in how we look and feel as we age, but there are many other determining factors, all of which are in your control. Here, are five things you can start doing today to age as gracefully as humanly possible.

Invest in an Anti-Aging Face Serum.

Your skin is your largest organ, and treating it with products that nourish and moisturize it is your first line of defense when it comes to the aging process. As skin ages, collagen production and cell turnover slow down, creating lines, wrinkles and slack skin. But if you took all the ingredients that have been shown to slow and reverse the aging process in the skin, you would have a mixture of niacinamide (to smooth skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles), plant-based peptides (to make skin feel firmer and create a more even complexion), vitamin C (to improve brightness and radiance) and natural ceramides (to hydrate while supporting the skin’s own moisture barrier). In other words, you would have a bottle of OSEA’s Anti-Aging Sea Serum. Apply two to three drops to clean skin every day to promote the look of healthy, radiant skin.

Eat plants.

Foods that are rich in nutrients, vitamins and unsaturated fats have been shown to have anti-aging effects on the skin. Experts agree that the Mediterranean diet—high in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and olive oil (and low in refined carbohydrates, sugar, processed foods and meat)—is high in antioxidants and has anti-aging benefits on everything from your brain to your heart.

Plants

Sweat it out.

Researchers have found that short, intense workouts may be more beneficial in helping to reverse the effects of aging than moderate ones (although, to be fair, everyone agrees that all exercise is good). Even quick bursts of cardio—as brief as four minutes—can have powerful anti-aging benefits for your cardiovascular health.

Exercise Equipment

Get your rest.

Sleeping eight hours a night consistently has myriad benefits for the skin. When you sleep, your skin builds collagen, and blood flow to the skin increases, both of which lead to plumper, more glowing skin. On the other hand, one of the first places lack of sleep will appear will be in dark undereye circles and a wan, sallow complexion.

Bedding

Take a breath.

Meditation and a regular practice of mindfulness doesn’t just help you feel calmer and more centered; it has been shown to reverse the cellular aging process. Researchers have found that a consistent practice of mindful meditation leads to feeling more grounded, more present, in some cases leading to feeling more joy. And what could be more youthful than that?
